Etta B. "Mickie" Holder
Etta “Mickie” Holder, beloved wife of the late Theodore Holder (Ted), passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018, at the age of 92. Born December 26, 1925, to Harry and Etta Fairless in Berkeley, CA, Mickie was the third of eight children. At age 14 her family moved to Dorris, CA, where she later met her husband of 66 years. In 1953, Mickie and Ted moved to Sutherlin, OR, where they built a modest farm home and raised four children.
She was a gentle soul and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. As a full-time homemaker, Mickie actively led her children's activities - serving as a Den mother, Blue Bird leader, and room mother for many years. She cared deeply about others and showed appreciation by gifting her loved ones with masterful handcrafted quilts. In her later years, she also enjoyed reading. Mickie spent the last year at Precious Times Adult Care.
Mickie will be dearly missed by her four children, Dan (Barb) Holder of Dillard, OR, Sam (Mary) Holder of Golden, CO, Judy (Dave) Bales of Roseburg, and Jean (Paul) Crawford of Sutherlin, OR; 11 grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; her sisters Edith Paxton of Klamath Falls, OR, Edna Wilde of Mohave Valley, AZ; her brothers, Ben Fairless of Fernley, NV, Tom (Starla) Fairless of Herriman, UT; her sister-in-law, Agnes Bollman of Myrtle Point, OR; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Mickie is reunited with family members who preceded her in death including: her husband Ted; her parents, Harry and Etta Fairless; sisters, Mayda Hill and Laura Heryford; brother, Alfred Fairless; grandson, Sam Holder II; and son-in-law, Willas “Tink” Agee.
Special thanks to Kim Reed of Precious Times Adult Care.
